Skerries Regatta 2026

A fantastic day of racing hosted by Skerries Rowing Club, with clubs from all along the East Coast battling it out on the water. The third in our ECRC series along the East Coast. Read the full story below and click below to view some amazing photographs from the day's action.

The calm after the storm...

Another fantastic day at our third ECRC Regatta of the season, hosted by our neighbours at Skerries Rowing Club.

There was some uncertainty as to whether the regatta would go ahead, following challenging weather conditions in the early hours of the morning. While Balbriggan looked more suited to surfing than rowing at dawn, the weather improved significantly, giving way to calm waters and beautiful sunshine. By the end of the day, there were even a few sunburnt faces thanks to the midday sun.

A special mention goes to our novice ladies’ crew, who competed in their first regatta and gained valuable race experience.

Congratulations also to Simon, one of our novice men’s crew members, who took to the water for his first competitive race.

Although we were unsuccessful in bringing home medals on this occasion, every crew represented the club with great commitment and determination.

Here is a small selection of photographs taken by our PRO yesterday, with a full gallery to follow in the coming days.

Well done to all of our competing crews and to the fellow clubs who took part. We look forward to seeing everyone again at the Stella Maris Rowing Club Regatta on 21 June.

Finally, our sincere thanks to Skerries Rowing Club for hosting such a well-organised and enjoyable day.
