Another great day on the East Coast

The East Coast season continued on Saturday, 30th May 2026, at Dalkey Regatta. Another fantastic day of racing hosted by Dalkey Rowing Club, with clubs from all along the East Coast taking to the water at Scotsman's Bay, near Sandycove Beach, to battle for valuable points in the East Coast Shield.

Huge congratulations to every club that took part. Once again, five Fingal Rowing Club crews lined up to represent the club: Inter Ladies, Mixed, Novice Men, Masters Men, and Masters Women.

Conditions were largely excellent throughout the day, although there were a few moments later on when changing conditions tested crews and coxes alike. The regatta also provided some memorable distractions, including a yacht moored directly on the race course whose skipper had to be woken and asked to move, as well as speedboats straying onto the course between races.

While the results didn't quite match the highs of the previous week at St. Michael's, there were still positives to take away. Every crew fought hard, gained valuable racing experience, and showed the determination and resilience that Fingal Rowing Club prides itself on. Our sole podium finish came from our Masters Women, who secured a well-earned silver medal:

  • Masters Women — Silver.

Make no mistake, this wasn't the day we were aiming for. But setbacks are part of sport, and they often provide the greatest motivation. Our crews have had time to reflect, recover, and reset. Now the focus turns back to training, sharpening our race plans, and putting in the hard work needed to turn near misses into victories.

The next ECRC Regatta takes place in Skerries on Saturday, 7th June 2026. We'll be back on the water with a point to prove, ready to race harder, row faster, and fight for every result.

We will be back, and we will be better.
