The Boyne Boat Race 2026
Two crews took to the water to compete in InverColpa Rowing Club's annual Boyne Boat Race. Our Master's Men's Crew and Mixed Crew raced against thirty-one other boats from Mornington Beach into Drogheda.

Shorter course, due to easterly winds...
An early start on Sunday, 3rd May, set the tone for an exciting day as our two crews took to the water for the Boyne Boat Race 2026. Hosted by InverColpa Rowing Club in Drogheda, this renowned race traditionally begins at Clogherhead Beach, challenging crews from across Ireland to navigate open sea conditions before entering the River Boyne and pushing upstream to Drogheda. A demanding 15.4km test of endurance and skill.

Due to strong easterly winds, the course was revised to start from Mornington Beach, shortening the distance to just over 11.5km. Despite the change, competition remained fierce, with 31 crews battling it out across a variety of classes, including Currachs, East Coast Skiffs, St Ayles Skiffs, One Design boats, and Celtic Longboats.

The revised course delivered a thrilling and closely contested race. Our Mixed Crew delivered an outstanding performance, chasing down our Masters Men right to the line and finishing just one second behind. Their effort secured a well-earned Gold Medal in the Mixed category as the fastest crew, an exceptional achievement.

We extend our sincere thanks to InverColpa Rowing Club for their invaluable support, including accommodating our skiffs the day before the race and stepping in to provide a last-minute coxswain after ours was unfortunately sidelined due to injury.

It was a fantastic race and an excellent start to our 2026 East Coast season.
